The Grateful Dead’s New Years shows were the highlight of the year for many of their faithful legions. Bill Graham would pull out all the stops for this annual event. The former Ice rink Winterland where the band had performed since 1966 was the site of some of their finest performances over the years. The final Dead concert at Winterland which fell on New Years Eve 1978 is regarded as one of the Dead’s finest performances of all at the historic venue. It was one of those nights where it all worked out seamlessly.
The accompanying HUGE poster for that show is equally well regarded. Here we are offering the handbill for this performance! Legendary artists Mouse and Kelley created one of their finest efforts of their longtime collaboration. The legendary “Blue Rose” deserves a home in every San Francisco poster collection and is sure to bring the winning bidder much satisfaction now and even more with each passing year.
