This Mint 9.8 is the HIGHEST CGC GRADED example of this poster we've ever auctioned! Here’s an Original Poster that was created for Soundproof Productions when they started promoting concerts at the Avalon Ballroom after the Family Dogs’ occupancy. This wonderful design by the late Bob Fried announced San Francisco native Santana as the headliner. Within six months of this show Carlos Santana would be propelled into relative stardom after his stellar performance at the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival.

Bob Fried was one of the most highly regarded poster artists of the era. Fried was a trained commercial artist who taught at the San Francisco Art Institute. Like the work of his friend Victor Moscoso, Fried’s formal training gave his work remarkable precision and restraint creating designs that explored geometry and color in a strikingly unique style. This piece exhibits amazing eye appeal and touches on all the elements needed for a classic concert poster.
