This collaboration by three of the most important artists of the era was produced in 1985 for Wild Dog Magazine. Dan O’Neil was the organizer of “The Wild Dogs” a small group of cartoonists gathered together to cover the Democratic convention in the San Francisco press.
Robert Crumb & Victor Moscoso created this piece on commission by the Mitchell Brothers who owned a famous adult entertainment venue in San Francisco. The O'Farrell Theatre was a favorite hangout of Dan O'Neil's gang. During that time Diane Feinstein was mayor and the theater was subjected to raids by Feinstein & the police department several times. So the owners of the theater printed this poster and hung it up in City Hall and lamp posts near the Mayor's home in Pacific Heights. Our records indicate less than 1,000 original printings were produced!
