It is exciting to offer this SIGNED ORIGINAL ART by the late great master Rick Griffin. The opportunity to offer a piece of artwork featuring his classic SOUNDPROOF Productions Era illustration is something we consider an important PAE auction event! We believe this black pen & ink drawing on white board was produced early 1969 based on the comparisons to Griffin's work from that period.
When Family Dog was no longer doing shows at the Avalon Ballroom Soundproof Productions began producing a series of concerts at the venue in January 1969. The famous Van Morrison poster (AOR 2.23 The Art of Rock Book page 108) exhibits a similar landscape field of broken TV sets & electric appliances across the land. This signed pen & ink artwork is clearly an inspiration of high significance to that piece which was also the same era Griffin's famous Grateful Dead "Aoxomoxoa" was produced.
In recent years we have witnessed a huge increase in demand for Griffin Original Art by collectors worldwide. The reason is simple. In most cases artwork like this does not make it outside the artist’s circle of immediate family or personal possessions.
