The Trips festival was a major event of the psychedelic scene in the San Francisco in the sixties. The posters and flyers from the event are some of the most highly sought after paper items from the era.

1965 welcomed several groundbreaking events that I shaped the  coming psychedelic Rock scene in San Francisco. These included The Charlatans groundbreaking run at the Red Dog Saloon The Pranksters Acid Tests The Family Dog’s early shows at Longshoreman’s Hall and Bill Grahams Mime Troupe Benefits’. However it was not until January of 1966 that the these forces came together  at The Trips festival. Conceived by Prankster Stewart Brand organized by Bill Graham and fueled by Owsley the event was in essence Acid Test on a larger more pubic scale.. However this three-day immersion course in the psychedelic experience sparked the events that immediately followed most notably Bill Graham’s legacy at the Fillmore and Chet Helms Family Dog productions.

This super scare artifact from the Trips Festival is one of the few remaining high condition handbills from this historic event. The simple yet incredibly well designed image by  innovator of the  Psychedelic concert poster Wes Wilson .
