This poster is signed and doodled in pencil by the artist Stanley Mouse!
The FD-26 is one of the undeniable stars of the 1960’s concert poster genre and its place in history is well known. This classic Grateful Dead Family Dog issue for the Avalon Ballroom in 1966 has survived the test of time and is easily one of the most recognized images in all of Rock! Stanley Mouse created this large sized print on fine art paper and then spent a tremendous amount of time hand painting the inside image with bright colored florescent acrylic paint.
Last month the rock poster collectibles world was stunned when an OP-1 Original First Printing FD-26 in similar condition was auctioned for a record breaking price of $118 750. The lot offered here is unique and allows collectors the chance to acquire this classic image one of the most popular 1960's concert poster images in a beautiful large format size for a far lower price than the pre-concert original first FD-26 printings can realize when they surface. Best of all Mouse personally hand colored this one of a kind lot and put a huge signature and doodle across the entire bottom of the print! Gorgeous!
Mouse spent significant time to hand paint this artwork in intricate detail. Please closely examine the high res photos of this lot to fully understand the artistry that went into creating it. In January 2019 a similar hand colored example of this issue reached $2760 in our auction!
