This original handbill has just emerged from a recently unearthed and long held collection of Boston Tea Party material owned by a long time collector and participant of the New England music scene!
This Jethro Tull run of concerts in Boston during July 1969 took place immediately after they recorded their album “Stand Up”. It was released two months later and quickly reached No. 1 in the UK charts. Ian Anderson by now had established himself as the group's leader and songwriter for most of their material. The band set off on their first headlining tour in the US including these concerts at the Boston Tea Party and an appearance at the Newport Jazz Festival.
The Boston Tea Party was located at 53 East Berkeley Street in the South End from 1967-1969 before moving to its new location at 15 Lansdowne Street through 1970. Material from the Boston Tea Party is ALWAYS coveted by collectors and music fans alike!
