This is the FIRST example of this Original Cheetah Club Poster we’ve ever auctioned! The British rock & soul band The Animals included legendary band members Eric Burdon and Chas Chandler. The latter being known in history as the man who discovered Jimi Hendrix. In the mid sixties the group became popular with their #1 hit "House of the Rising Sun". Eric Burdon and the Animals along with opening act East Side Kids performed these 2 nights in November 1967 at the Cheetah Club in Santa Monica. The poster was designed by artist Eugene Hawkins.
The historic Cheetah Club was one of the hottest places to play if you were an up & coming band in the late sixties. Frank Zappa discovered Alice Cooper there in 1967 and signed him to his label. Janis Joplin and Pink Floyd also performed there. Original Pre-Concert First Printing material from the Cheetah is ULTRA RARE and extremely difficult to locate so this lot represents a special opportunity! Only a handful of these posters have surfaced for collectors over the past decade and this is the first of this issue we've ever handled.
