This is the very FIRST APPEARANCE of this ultra rare DOORS handbill in our auction! This 1968 benefit concert was called “A Superball” and took place at the Kaleidoscope on Sunset Blvd. The event was a benefit show for striking employees of KPPC Radio Station. An estimated 1 500 people were in attendance.

Historically in the Doors legacy this concert was important because it contained their FIRST live performance of the famous song narrative “The Celebration of the Lizard” one of Jim Morrison’s finest works of poetry. The handbill has a mimeograph type design incorporated into it and was produced in very low quantities for distribution. Additional acts included The Byrds Love Canned Heat Taj Mahal and many more. It is HIGHLY UNLIKELY we will see another one of these surface in our auction anytime soon.
