It’s always a pleasure to locate EARLY Grateful Dead material in this high quality condition to be offered to the collecting community. This original handbill was produced for the Dead’s FIRST APPEARANCE performing in Portland Oregon. It was also one of the first shows they played outside of California immediately following the release of their debut self titled album on Warner Brothers Records. The Dead were on their way back from a weekend in Seattle and Vancouver and as a result played a Tuesday night in Portland. No audio recording of this early Dead show exists making it even more mysterious and mythical. Here is a story about one fan's memories of the event here.
The handbill features a fantastic psychedelic illustration emerging from the center of flower with "The Grateful Dead" hand lettered above. A great design and lettering by an unknown artist for an extremely difficult to find piece… FAR scarcer in Museum Quality Condition like this one here! A very rare and unique Grateful Dead offering. Don’t let this amazing lot get away!
