During the 1960’s a small group of students began promoting psychedelic rock and blues concerts in the Austin area. They were originally known as the Electric Grandmother and later became the Vulcan Gas Company and eventually opened a venue under the same name.

The Vulcan Gas Company posters are Big Bright and Beautiful with much of the series being very large  in size compared to the San Francisco dance hall posters. They are striking when seen in person. These posters are a perfect example of why images on the web just cant do justice to the actual prints.

This poster features a band named Lord August and the Vision of Light who featured Augie Myers who was a long time member of the Sir Douglas Quintet   a close  associate of Doug Sahm.
