PAE is pleased to present the very FIRST CGC graded specimen of this vintage and popular original poster to EVER appear at public auction! The Charlatans groundbreaking performances at the Red Dog Saloon in Virginia City Nevada in June of 1965 are legendary in the annals of the Psychedelic Scene.
The poster that was created for these “first ever” psychedelic dance concerts is commonly referred to as “The Seed” and is a rare and powerful historic document from that event. The poster was designed by the Charlatans' George Hunter and Michael Ferguson and is considered by collectors as “The very FIRST Psychedelic Concert Poster”. Within months of this event The Fillmore and Avalon would begin producing their legendary run of posters creating a brilliant and historic body of work.
The band’s opening at the venue was announced in advance however it was then delayed a couple weeks toward the end of June 1965. This is the second original version of this historic poster with the corrected date for the start of the performances featured in the Art of Rock Plate # 2.1 on page 90.
During the past eight years CGC authentication has brought much needed integrity and stability for ULTRA HIGH END RARITIES SUCH AS THIS. It must be understood that this poster is 100% ORIGINAL WITH NO RESTORATION OF ANY KIND SUPER CLEAN PINHOLE FREE and would be widely sold as "Dead Mint" in venues where independent third party authentication and grading is swept under the rug and considered unimportant.
