This lot will be accompanied by a Letter of Provenance attesting to the fact that it resided in the historic Early '66 Time Capsule Collection one of the most exciting and important concert poster discoveries of the past 20 years.
Berkeley’s own garage rock / new wave band Psycotic Pineapple is featured on this amazing Original Handbill from the Keystone in 1979. A rarity in its own rite this piece is the FIRST CGC Graded specimen of this issue to ever appear in any public auction. The quasi-punk band deliberately misspelled their namesake and they enjoyed a spirited local following of fans between 1978 and the mid eighties.
An entire series of eye-catching handbills were designed for many of Psycotic Pineapple’s concerts by original band member John Seabury. Most were cartoon drawings like this one here and often contained the group’s mascot “Pineapple Man” exhibited in a variety of strange trippy and comical situations. This one speaks for itself.
It is of no surprise to us that a scarce vintage treasure like this could only be un-earthed from something like the Time Capsule Collection. It’s extremely difficult to find these John Seabury handbills in super clean condition like this one here. Only 3 issues of the many produced are listed in the Art of Rock book which means this issue is only ONE OF THE FEW eligible for CGC certification!
