This is a rare original 1970 bar menu / handbill that advertised drink specials at the historic Matrix club in San Francisco. It was designed by noted artist Mark Twain Behrens who also produced art for the legendary Pepperland Ballroom. The Matrix was an early club that hosted many Blues and folk acts along with the emerging San Francisco sound. Managed by the Airplane’s Marty Balin the matrix served as an early showcase for the band. Ads like this were distributed freely during the day but very few have survived. This piece is a real find and it's amazing how it remained in such good condition all this time. This is the FIRST example of this double sided menu we have ever auctioned! Original Handbills are RED HOT! Read our blog dated 5/18/18 to learn more!
