We are proud to offer this super rare Original Cheetah Club Handbill for the FIRST TIME in our auction! This first printing handbill from December 1967 is stamped and postmarked on the reverse side (see second photo)!
The L.A. band Hour Glass included pre-Allman Brothers Band founders Duane and Gregg Allman. The group also featured three future studio musicians at the Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals Pete Carr Johnny Sandlin and Paul Hornsby. The legacy of The Allman Brothers is undeniable in the world of collectibles. Two months ago a Duane Allman guitar sold at a public auction for $600 000. This original Cheetah Handbill also showcases the Los Angeles 1960's "punk" band The Standells. Groups like the Sex Pistols and the Ramones may have never come to be -- had The Standells not paved the way for them.
The historic Cheetah Club was one of the hottest places to play if you were an up & coming band in the late sixties. Frank Zappa discovered the “Alice Cooper Band” there in 1967 and signed them to his label. Janis Joplin Buffalo Springfield and Pink Floyd also performed there. Original Pre-Concert First Printing material from the Cheetah is extremely difficult to locate so this lot represents a special opportunity!
