This poster has just emerged from a recently unearthed and long held collection of Texas material owned by a long time resident and participant of the Austin music scene!

We are incredibly excited to offer the collecting public the VERY FIRST example of this poster to appear in our auction. And according to our archives this is the very FIRST specimen to appear at public auction anywhere!

This may very well be the rarest of ALL Vulcan Gas posters and this certainly represents PAE's most exciting poster discovery of 2019! Celebrated Austin artist Jim Franklin designed this spectacular Masterpiece. San Antonio’s rock / psych band Bubble Puppy is featured on this colorful MASSIVE SILKSCREEN poster from 1968. Their band name was taken from "Centrifugal Bumble-Puppy" a fictitious kids game in Aldous Huxley's famous book “Brave New World”.

This Vulcan Gas issue is different than many others from the series as it was printed on heavier stiffer paper and the poster is un-numbered. It looks absolutely STUNNING under a black light (see photo #3)! Artist Jim Franklin beautifully combined bright florescent red and blue colors with wrap around lettering and an image of Beat Generation hero & author William S. Burroughs in the middle. Burroughs was also an avid visual artist throughout his lifetime but never exhibited anything until 1987 just 10 years before his death.

Austin’s Vulcan Gas Company was responsible for a wonderful series of concert posters that are very scarce and beautiful. Very few of these posters exist in ANY condition today. That being said the specimen you see here is on a whole other level when it comes to rarity and desirability. This is the FIRST example of this issue we have ever seen and without a doubt the only one to ever be third party certified. It only received a Restored grade from CGC because it has two added pieces of paper on the back of the poster to reinforce. There was no restoration done to the front of this poster. It is also SUPER CLEAN and free of pinholes! If you’ve been waiting years for one of these ultra rare gems to be available your time has come! Hesitate and it will be gone FOREVER!
