Here is the FIRST APPEARANCE of this vintage original poster to ever appear in our auction and it’s the FIRST with CGC grading to appear in any public auction!
The Pitschel Players performed their first production “Lyndon's Banes” a satire which attacked both the establishment and their own politics-and-drugs generation in their Mission district theater on Julian Street every weekend since late 1966. They also performed at many civil rights benefits and peace marches. The 10 member performance company were all under twenty-five years old they lived in the Haight/Ashbury and commuted to the Mission theater.
This 1967 poster printed by Double H Press advertises “An Evening of Political Satire” and “Free Ethnic Refreshments”. The image of the poster is a little disturbing to lovers of concert material like ourselves: It’s a billboard man hanging a new paper notice over a very Wes Wilson-like design covering up the artwork. BOOO! The show was sponsored by The Society for the Preservation of Foreign Countries and copyrighted by “Blissful Ignorance Productions.” The Union Logo is displayed in the bottom right corner.
