This classic Black Flag original handbill was designed by artist Raymond Pettibon. His artwork became well known in the late seventies in the southern California punk rock scene when he began creating album art for groups on SST Records owned and operated by his brother Greg Ginn. In 1977 Ginn founded the influential punk rock band Black Flag and Raymond designed the group’s legendary “4 Bars” logo. 

 

Pettibon even played bass in the band during their early formative years. His artwork appeared on posters album covers and T-shirts for Black Flag through the early 1980’s and he became a legend in the Los Angeles punk rock scene. Raymond Pettibon currently lives in New York still creates art and is the lead singer of the “Niche Makers” a punk band from Venice California. This rare handbill from Ukranian Hall in 1982 is in incredible MUSEUM QUALITY Condition!
