This long lost relic is an Original Program produced for Jimi Hendrix appearing at London’s Saville Theatre on August 27th 1967. This concert is HISTORICALLY significant because it was the same day Brian Epstein died. The Beatles famous manager owned the lease on the Saville and due to the sad news of his death Jimi’s second show that evening was cancelled. Both Epstein & The Beatles had seen Jimi perform months prior and were huge fans.

Keith West’s “Tomorrow” and “The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown” were also on the bill. The two acts as well as Hendrix were originally booked to play 2 shows that date – an early and a late. All were still willing to perform after hearing the news of Epstein’s death however the house management decided differently. During his long early set Jimi delivered an inspired performance pulling out every stop -- playing guitar with his teeth on his knees never missing one eloquent note.

The beautiful artwork on the front back covers and inside this Saville program were created by Simon Posthuma and Marijke Koger of the Dutch Art Collective “The Fool”. The Fool were part of The Beatles entourage. The collective had painted a John Lennon piano and a George Harrison guitar in psychedelic designs. In 1967 they were given the task of designing and stocking the Apple Boutique a shop on Baker Street in central London set up by the Beatles and a part of their Apple Group.

This original Jimi Hendrix program is a crowning jewel collectible from a noteworthy and legendary time in history! Hendrix specimens are some of the most desirable rock and roll artifacts of all. This special lot is from one of the most famous performances from the guitar hero's short career and without a doubt the FIRST EXAMPLE of this rare issue we’ve ever offered in our auction!
