This legendary classic poster was produced for Dylan’s 1963 appearance at the University Regent Theatre in Syracuse New York. The concert was presented by The Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) and it exhibits a direct connection between Dylan and the Civil Rights movement while reflecting on his own songwriting during this early folk era.
Bob Dylan is the greatest lyrical wordsmith of the past 100 years and his recently awarded Nobel Prize was well deserved. Dylan's historical importance is second to none and this has literally turned the few surviving concert posters from early in his career into gold. On the rare occasion that an original specimen from Dylan surfaces on the marketplace collectors across the globe stand up and take notice. These classic rarities usually trade hands very privately and very quietly making this lot an opportunity that may not present itself again for a very long time.
There is no question that this particular poster is one of the most celebrated designs of his legendary early acoustic career! Proof of this superior desirability is the fact this poster has been repeatedly pirated and reprinted on thin paper over the years.
