This large poster has been signed and numbered 226/500 by the legendary artist the late great Rick Griffin!
This beautiful screen print is a 1989 limited edition of Rick Griffins iconic BG-105 that is considered by many collectors to be the most famous concert poster from the 1960’s -- Rick Griffin’s masterpiece: The Jimi Hendrix Flying Eyeball BG-105. The famous poster that this print was modeled from represents what is arguably the best artwork ever rendered for a rock concert poster.
This print works on every level. It was created by the most inventive artist of the genre promoting the most striking musician of the era and at the most famous venue of all!
The story behind the original poster is that promoter Bill Graham dropped the ball the first time Hendrix played the Fillmore by placing the groundbreaking guitarist THIRD on the bill (BG-69). The next time Hendrix came around it was made clear to Graham by Hendrix’s management that he needed to make up for his previous lack of judgment. Of course Graham went straight to Rick Griffin to create the best possible work of art. The rest is history.
The specimen offered here is a HUGE and beautiful Limited Edition Serigraph that was SIGNED by Rick Griffin and published by Art Rock. The edition was supposed to be 500 pieces however Griffin never signed all of the prints.
This is a true piece of Fine Art that was produced on ultra high quality hand laid paper.
