Doors material is as "Blue Chip" as it comes and this is the FIRST example of this handbill we have EVER auctioned. Bob Masse designed this “Celebration of the Lizard” original handbill for the Doors appearance at the L.A. Forum in December 1968. Canadian artist Bob Masse is one of rock's most seasoned and prolific poster artists. He is perhaps best known in the collecting world for his design of the July 1967 Grateful Dead concert at Vancouver’s Agradome. His work has been hunted by collectors for decades and remains one of the most celebrated artists of the era.
The Doors personally requested that the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis open this show. The performance featured Curtis Amy and George Bohanon in an on-stage orchestra. Around 14 000 fans were in attendance. The Doors set included the earliest known live performance of “Touch Me”. Doors handbills are always highly sought after and this issue is especially so given its amazing design and eye appeal. Furthermore interest in vintage concert handbills is exploding!
