Here is the FIRST example of this early Frank Zappa original poster to appear in our auction! This poster was created by the legendary German designer Gunther Kieser who is best known for his 1969 Jimi Hendrix poster. Much like other issues by this renowned artist this piece is LARGE in size measuring 22 15/16 x 33 3/16”.
In mid 1968 Zappa and the mothers moved back to LA and Zappa himself moved to a house in Laurel Canyon. A few months later the future Little Feat frontman Lowell George met Frank and joined the Mothers of Invention. The group played a long summer tour in the US and then flew overseas in September. This rare poster is from that era of transition for the Mothers. This being the 4th night of a run of shows in Germany the band continued with additional shows in Sweden & Denmark finally returning to the states in early November.
Gunther Kieser concert posters are always amongst the most popular issues and this lot is no exception. Combined with the fact that this poster promotes Frank Zappa and the Mothers this piece will certainly enjoy enthusiastic bidder attention! It stands to reason we may not see another example of this issue for a very long time!
