Led Zeppelin reunited in 2007 for a historic full length concert at London's own O2 Arena. The legendary group played several of their most famous songs to an enthusiastic crowd and coordinated a professional recording of the show (all 16 cameras filming) with the prospect of a special movie release. Several years later it was finally released as "Celebration Day" in 2012 and modern artist Shepard Fairey was tapped to design the artwork.
The color scheme Fairey used for this poster varies greatly from his normal palette. Very seldom do we find any of his masterpieces incorporating such bright and eye-searing (yellow and green) colors compared to his standard red and black formula. Truly unique! Artist Shepard Fairey first became known for his "Andre the Giant Has a Posse" (…OBEY…) sticker campaign while attending the Rhode Island School of Design in the late 80's and early 90's. Obey material also used images taken from the tabloid Weekly World News. He became widely known during the 2008 U.S. presidential election for his Barack Obama "Hope" poster. The Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston has described him as one of the best known and most influential street artists. His work is included in the collections at The Smithsonian the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in NY.
