This is the FIRST example of this rare original poster to appear in our auction. Pink Floyd and The Doors are two of the most popular and sought after groups of the era for collectors. Finding a piece which features both in one is always a special treat! It's important to note that Jim Morrison had already passed away the year prior and this lineup consisted of the 3 remaining members of the Doors "Other Voices" tour supporting their album released in late 1971.
The second British Rock Meeting was scheduled to happen on Friesenheimer Island in Mannheim Germany. Due to protests by the locals the Mannheim city council opposed it and promoters had to change the venue. The 3 day festival was relocated to Insel Grün (Green Island) in Germersheim West Germany. Powerhouse acts like The Doors The Kinks The Faces with Rod Stewart and of course Pink Floyd all performed high quality sets.
The poster you see here is the first original design with blue background and the original location listed for the festival. Once the venue was changed additional re-print posters with a red background were produced to promote the event. The original blue background / first venue posters like this one are extremely hard to find with very few surviving the test of time (much like the first original David Byrd Wallkill version Woodstock posters).
