This poster is signed in pencil by the artist Wes Wilson!

This was the last poster in Wilson’s steady run working for Bill Graham. The story goes: Wilson and Graham were at a disagreement when it came to negotiating pay. Many of these concert poster artists were earning pittances and Wilson became fed up with it. With his wife as his muse (as seen in BG-58 BG-60 and BG-62) Wes Wilson depicted a beautiful nude woman with her hand out begging for scraps almost tauntingly as symbols for how little he was earning for his work from Graham.

The high water mark for this issue was a same graded 9.6 example UNSIGNED that we auctioned for $1162.00 two years ago. This SIGNED 9.6 example is bound to bring similar intense bidding from the collecting community because it exhibits a beautiful signature by the artist! Read our blog dated 1/20/18 where we discuss the skyrocketing demand for signed material such as this lot!
