This lot will be accompanied by a Letter of Provenance attesting to the fact that it resided in the historic Early '66 Time Capsule Collection one of the most exciting and important concert poster discoveries of past 20 years.
This is the very FIRST CGC graded example of this handbill to EVER be offered at auction! These handbills were charmingly printed in the old fashioned letterpress style. The venue was one of the first to feature light shows in the city. It was owned by George Eby (and his dog Potpan). Eby let the members of Sopwith Camel live upstairs in the building and also rehearse in that space for a month or so before they began performing there with The Charlatans in March.
Estimate: Another specimen of this issue was auctioned and cataloged as " Very rare and early. Fantastic condition with 3 pinholes and some light handling" and realized $422 in May 2017. Of course that specimen was NOT independently authenticated and graded by CGC and is in a different universe quality wise and provenance wise from this super clean and historic offering. We will see right here and now the premium that collectors are attaching to QUALITY and PROVENANCE in today's rapidly growing marketplace.
