This lot will be accompanied by a Letter of Provenance attesting to the fact that it resided in the historic Early '66 Time Capsule Collection one of the most  exciting and important concert poster discoveries of the past 20 years.

Sopwith Camel named by founding member Peter Kraemer formed in late 1965 and included Terry MacNeil William "Truckaway" Sievers Martin Beard and drummer Norman Mayell. The group performed regularly at the Matrix as well as the Marigold Ballroom and several other popular west coast venues.

This original handbill promotes the first show beginning their residency at the Matrix. The Matrix was a tiny San Francisco music club that held no more than 150 concert goers. So one has to wonder how many handbills were produced to create interest for these early 1966 events!

We believe this is one of the more attractive early Matrix flyers a series that early on put out some pretty crude looking advertising.
