The Monterey Pop Festival was a pivotal event in music history. The festival welcomed in the “Summer of Love” and introduced the world to the San Francisco sound and showcased the first United States performances by both Hendrix and The Who!
Two versions of the poster were printed. The first and larger printing was the promotional poster that was created to advertise the show! The smaller print was sold at the festival for as commercial merchandise. Both posters were printed on foil-surfaced cardboard. The foil shows every flaw so undamaged copies are especially difficult to find.
The copy that we are offering in this sale is the larger advertising poster. This poster is much scarcer than the smaller version. This copy’s colors are bright and sharp and paper is in amazing condition. This is one of the finest copies that we have ever seen with just corner pinhole damage keeping it from mint status.
Note: Due to the highly reflective surface of this poster it is difficult to get an evenly lit photographic image. Detailed images of smaller segments of the poster can be made available upon request.
