This lot will be accompanied by a Letter of Provenance attesting to the fact that it resided in the historic Early '66 Time Capsule Collection one of the most exciting and important concert poster discoveries of the past 20 years.

We're pleased to offer the collecting community the very FIRST specimen of this ultra rarity to ever appear at public auction.

This BEAUTIFUL cardboard screen print poster promotes a benefit show for the Delano Farm Workers Council for Justice featuring Earth Mother The John Handy Quintet Quicksilver Sopwith Camel and more at the legendary Longshoreman’s Hall.

The Delano Grape Workers Strike was a battle between the under-paid Latino and Filipino farm workers and the growers who owned the grape farms. It was a protest that lasted nearly the entirety of the 1960's in Delano California. For the first time in American History led by the illustrious Cesar Chavez over 2 000 farm workers started a boycott against grapes. Through grassroots efforts like marches and non-violent resistance the movement revealed the plight of our nation's lowest paid workers.

This lot is historically significant due to it's early blending of Political Cause Union Labor and Hippie sympathizers that was inherent in the San Francisco / Haight Ashbury scene during this era. Longshoreman’s Hall was run by Union Longshoremen who were left wing labor and had connections with hippie politicos. That is why the Family Dog ran some of their pre-Avalon Ballroom shows at Longshoreman's Hall. Lucia Castell was hooked up with the political scene as well as Joe Buchwald (Marty Balin’s dad the printer of this poster.)

This ultra rare issue was printed in probably as little as 20 to 50 copies… but how many have survived?" A true once in a lifetime collecting opportunity!

Estimate: Experienced collectors know the road to collecting success is pathed by acquiring impossible to find pieces like this lot that are literally priceless. They are priceless because there is nothing else to compare it to. When these extreme rarities come to market it is incumbent on each collector to make their own determination as to value. This takes some experience .... and a whole lot of imagination. Invariably the person who values rarities like this the highest ends up with the prize. While this seems obvious what happens next is not. The world will be watching to see what value is placed on this piece of history now.
