Here’s another poster we’re offering for the FIRST TIME in our auction! The 5th Memphis Blues Festival was held at Overton Park Shell in Memphis Tennessee during October 1970. The festival was headlined by Delta blues singer and guitarist Bukka White and also featured a long list of artists who made up the southern country blues revival of the late 1960’s.
Bukka White was a first cousin of B.B. King's mother (White's mother and King's grandmother were sisters). Bob Dylan covered his song "Fixin' to Die Blues" on his 1962 debut album which helped stir a rediscovery of Bukka's blues music among fans of the genre.
We have NEVER seen this poster pass through our doors before and our records indicate only one other specimen has appeared in another public auction with heavy creases and pinholes. This beautiful piece here is in Museum Quality Condition with no visible flaws of any kind. No nicks cuts tears or pinholes! A real treasure from the legendary land of the blues. It would be safe to say we may not see another specimen of this issue surface for a very long time!
