This poster was produced for a mammoth day of entertainment on March 20 1976 promoted by Bill Graham at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe Arizona on the campus of Arizona State University. Musical sets were performed by headliners The Doobie Brothers and Santana.
In addition there was filming all day at the stadium for the Warner Brothers production of the “A Star Is Born” movie with Kris Kristofferson and Barbara Streisand. The film was a remake of the 1937 original drama starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March which had also been adapted in 1954 as a musical starring Judy Garland.
The story was again recently adapted in 2018 starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper! All four of the official "A Star is Born" movies have been nominated for several Academy Awards. This is a very seldom seen Bill Graham Presents original poster from 1976!
