We are pleased to offer this early Jimi Hendrix poster for the FIRST TIME in our auction! According to our archives this is just the SECOND un-restored specimen to appear at public auction in the past 10 years! This original first printing poster promotes the Jimi Hendrix Experience appearing with The Move. Also on the bill but not listed on the poster were Pink Floyd Amen Corner The Nice and Eire Apparent all performing at The Royal Albert Hall in London England on 11/14/1967.
This poster was designed by artist Des Dale and produced by the Osiris Visions Printing Company (the image is OA 305 in the series). Osiris is well known for also printing the popular Hendrix poster designed by “Hapshash and the Colored Coat” (Michael English and Nigel Waymouth). Hapshash posters are some of the most cherished issues in the collectibles world!
This show at Royal Albert Hall was the first stop in Jimi’s second UK tour of 1967 after he had already made waves in the United States at the Monterey Pop Festival. Within a very short time he went from an opening act in early 1967 to a headliner in late 1967. The tour made its way through most of Europe ending at Green's Playhouse in Scotland on December 5th. Almost overnight Hendrix exploded in popularity from playing small theaters to larger venues like Royal Albert Hall.
Jimi Hendrix concert material is one of the most popular treasures in the collectible market today. This original poster is without a doubt a gold nugget to the early Hendrix collector! Few examples of this poster still remain available today in ANY condition and they seldom surface in auctions for collectors.
Our records show this is just the second un-restored specimen of this poster to appear at public auction in the past 10 years. The other specimen was catalogs as being in "Excellent condition with very light isolated edge handling" and realized $4533 on 5/22/16. This museum quality condition example is SUPER CLEAN and is 100% Original with no restoration whatsoever. Only toning on the edges that attests to it's originality keeps this mint specimen from a much higher grade! No nicks cuts tears or pinholes! An almost impossible to find early Hendrix issue from the historic Osiris series!
