John Severson’s 1970 film "Pacific Vibrations" is highly regarded as one of the top surfer movies of the era. This image you see here was designed by the master Rick Griffin and used to advertise the film’s release. This authorized 2nd printing poster was printed by the owner of the original painting Jay Gould who went to great lengths to create a high quality version of the artwork.
This printing exhibits sharper definition focus & colors far more HD than the original movie printing poster from 1970 and without ANY of the movie text to detract from the high voltage imagery. Gould only printed one print run of 1 000 copies in 1989 which sold out in 1995 or 1996 over 22 years ago!
Filmmaker John Severson also internationally famous for his work with Surfer Magazine sadly passed away a couple years ago. Here's a short clip which features Severson discussing the creation of Rick's artwork gracing this poster which quickly became a cultural "sea-change" icon! After watching this you gotta ask yourself how you can live without an example of this poster in your collection!
