This is a LARGE and colorful promo poster for Bob Weir’s first solo album Ace. It has factory creases from being folded into 6ths (to fit inside the record sleeve) and included in the 12” vinyl promotional releases. These special promo copies of the original release were sent by Warner Brothers Records to local radio stations and distributors only. Very few were made which makes this item very rare and difficult to find.
Ace contained songs mostly written by Weir and lyricist John Barlow with also a couple songs written by Robert Hunter as well. It was an interesting album because the complete lineup of Grateful Dead members all played on it which made it almost like a Grateful Dead album with all Bobby songs. Everything was performed very well and the album still sounds great to this day. The versions of Playing in the Band (nice long jam in there) and Black Throated Wind stand out as winners!
