In 1982 The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium hosted Ray Charles and The Raelettes for 2 back to back shows. Ray Charles’ legacy is celebrated across the globe as one of the most important musicians of our time. His version of "Georgia on My Mind" was proclaimed the state song of Georgia and an emotional Charles performed the song on the floor of the state legislature 2 years before this concert. 


The historic Colby Poster Printing Company produced promotional material between 1948 and 2012 and they became legendary for their signature fluorescent inks and bold all-caps typography although none of the original staff had any formal design training. They were members of the letterpress union the screen printers union and the typesetters union. Original cardboard posters are super popular and remain one of the most highly sought after type of concert memorabilia ever known.
