Here we have a historic blast from the past! The San Francisco Oracle was an underground newspaper which published 12 issues between September 1966 and February 1968. It was distributed in the Haight Ashbury area and was an early member of the UPS (Underground Press Syndicate). It combined poetry spirituality and multicultural interests with psychedelic design reflecting on the countercultural community. Many issues had ads for music and records. The Oracle is the most famous and collectible of any underground paper. Contributors included many significant San Francisco area artists including the late great Rick Griffin. It also featured such beat writers as Allen Ginsberg Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Michael McClure.

This lot contains San Francisco Oracle Volume 1 Issue #9 released August 1967. It measures 11-1/2 x 15" (32 pgs). Cover art by Bruce Conner very similar to his cover of the Trips Festival program. It is not graded however it shows Near Mint Lays Flat and was never folded. This issue here is the alternate Green color cover issue.
