The dance hall scene in Detroit differed from that in San Francisco in the sixties mostly in character and flavor but both of these cities would be instrumental in the development of psychedelic rock. When the bands from the west coast showed up in at the Grande there would be an instant kinship. Bay area stalwart Big Brother and the Holding Company played at the venue in 1968   and they were as well received as they were at the Fillmore or Avalon. This poster which is the greatest remaining artifact from that concert is one of the most popular posters from the Grande series.
