Gary Grimshaw's "Zebra Man" from the Grande Ballroom is without a doubt one of the Top 10 coolest and most desirable 1960's concert posters ever produced! This is just the THIRD poster ever issued in the series and is nearly 53 years old. It is quite large and very easily damaged.
The example you see here is only the SECOND CGC graded example to EVER be offered to the collecting public. This poster is on the top of everyone's "Want List" and seldom appears in auctions! In May of last year the first and only other CGC certified example to surface was graded 9.6 and realized a record breaking high water mark of $13 801 in our auction.
We believe this 8.0 Graded example here has been undergraded due to a few pieces of tape on the reverse which cannot be seen from the front and an almost impossible to see small tear. The eye appeal of this super clean example is simply staggering. The colors are ultra bright and the edges and corners are sharp. All posters from the Grande Ballroom are highly sought after and very collectible. Why? Because these posters were printed in extremely small runs of just 500 the Grande Ballroom was the epicenter of the 60’s scene in the upper Midwest and the artistic quality of the artworks rivals anything done out west.
This lot will receive much attention simply based on the enormous scarcity of Original Zebra Man posters yet it also offers IMMENSE VALUE to the winning bidder when compared to the 5 figure prices that a higher grade example with the same exact eye appeal would command.
