This is only the SECOND CGC graded example of this historic poster to appear at auction and it's in the FINEST QUALITY Condition we've seen of this issue! The poster was created for a Grateful Dead concert at the Hollywood Bowl in summer 1972. This show was to be the Dead's last performance with Pigpen. Pigpen was a major force in the band during its early years and the Dead's sound evolved after his departure.
The show was promoted by Pacific Presentations an early '70s southern California rock concert promotion company that held shows in large capacity venues and ushered in the arena rock era. In October 2017 a lower 8.5 graded example reached $644 in our auction. This example is in Superb Museum Quality 9.6 Graded Condition with no nicks cuts tears or pinholes! It will be interesting to see what the market brings to this superior example here!
