This is in the FINEST QUALITY condition we’ve offered of this rare Grateful Dead issue in our auction! During 1970 the city of Austin was still gestating into the music town it was to become later. Therefore many West Coast bands in the late sixties and early seventies would perform shows in San Antonio during their tours through Texas. The reasons were simple: Bigger facilities and a bigger population of music lovers.
This very scarce original handbill exhibits a high quality San Fran lineup with the likes of The Grateful Dead Quicksilver Messenger Service John Mayall and It’s a Beautiful Day. The late February concert has mostly been documented by photos of the Dead on stage which have surfaced recently however the set lists from that evening are unknown and they were not recorded. Our research indicates this handbill has only been to public auction twice during the past 5 years.
