It's always a treat for us when we have an opportunity to offer a very rare historical Pink Floyd Handbill and this example is the FIRST of this issue we have ever auctioned! By late 1970 the group’s live performances throughout their fall North American tour were quickly becoming legendary.
In early October Pink Floyd released their innovative album “Atom Heart Mother” and the group began performing the 15 minute long epic title-track live with full brass orchestra & choir conducted by Peter Phillips. On October 15th their spaceship landed for a concert at the Terrace Ballroom in Salt Lake City Utah for the second time that year (The first being the famous Robb E. Brown designed poster from 5/9/70). The release of their album on Capitol Records is advertised at the bottom of this handbill here. The day after this 10/15/70 Utah performance the Floyd continued their American tour at the historic Pepperland in California.
Originally called Coconut Grove when it opened in the 1930's the Terrace Ballroom would come to host shows in the sixites and seventies by popular bands like The Doors Frank Zappa The Grateful Dead and more. It's location was surrounded by Mormons few of which were interested in being part of a young peoples psychedelic movement therefore material from this venue seems to be extra hard to find. They were printed in very small quantities which makes them extremely rare these days in ANY condition!
