It brings us pure joy to offer this rarely seen super scarce Original Poster in Superb Museum Quality condition for the FIRST TIME in our auction!

The Conspiracy Stomp poster was designed by the legendary Robert Crumb the most well-known and feverishly collected artist from the era. Crumb produced just a few posters and this is unquestionably his finest poster art.

The event was held at the Aragon Ballroom on November 28 1969 and was hosted by none other than the famous Prankster Wavy Gravy. The show itself was advertised as a benefit for the “Chicago Eight” (which ended up really being the Chicago Seven). A year earlier at the 1968 Democratic National Convention violent protests broke out and there were eight people charged with conspiracy and inciting to riot: Abbie Hoffman Jerry Rubin David Dellinger Tom Hayden Rennie Davis John Froines Lee Weiner and Bobby Seale. The eighth person charged (Seale) had his trial severed during the proceedings which changed the number from eight to seven.

The Conspiracy Stomp benefit show at the Aragon was set up to help the defendants with their high legal expenses. Famous speakers who appeared at the event included founder of the Youth International Party and social activist: Abbie Hoffman (who was one of the accused defendants) and founder of the free-thought magazine “The Realist”: Paul Krassner.

As mentioned above Robert Crumb is UNQUESTIONABLY the most famous and collected illustrator of the 1960's. He was one of the originators of the underground comix movement. His art is highly irreverent ... often vulgar ... and constantly pushing the boundaries of acceptability.

Our auction database notes no more than 20 pieces of original crumb art that has realized over $100 000 at auction. Hundreds of other pieces have commanded $25 000 - $100 000. The record for a piece of Crumb illustration art tops out at an astounding $717 0000!

Given these facts this poster is sure to represent an insane bargain at whatever price it is delivered to the lucky winning bidder. Thousands of concert posters have been created throughout the years but very few enjoy the broad "crossover mass market appeal" that this poster offers. (The Andy Warhol BG-8 and The Woodstock Bus poster offered in this auction come to mind). And the absolutely flawless Museum Quality condition is as unmatched as the historical importance and appeal of this issue!

A spectacular value at today's ridiculously low rock bottom price levels.
