This poster is signed in black ink by Cold Blood lead singer Lydia Pense and several Cold Blood 1974 band members!
Cold Blood was one of the pioneer bands of the "East Bay Grease" sound San Fran’s brass horn heavy funk-rock of the 1960s. They musically broke ground when Bill Graham was blown away during an audition they played at the Fillmore West in 1969. The legendary Tower of Power horn players performed with Cold Blood several times. The style of their noted lead singer Lydia Pense was often compared to Janis Joplin. It was Joplin herself who became a fan of their music and recommended the audition to Graham.
This poster has just emerged from a recently unearthed and long held collection of Texas posters. Several of the posters in the collection including this one were at one time owned by Texas poster Artist Ken Featherston. Ken was a major figure in the history of Armadillo World Headquarters and met his tragic end by mistakenly being shot to death at the venue at the age of 23 in 1975.
This poster is personalized to Ken by Cold Blood lead singer Lydia Pense: "To Ken Thanks Very Much" as well as several signatures from Cold Blood band members are written in black ink on this amazing Texas poster from 1974. Signatures include that of noted trumpet player Max Haskett funky guitar player Michael Sasaki and additional band members.

This can be attributed to several reasons including scarcity historical significance as ground zero in the Texas psychedelic scene and the recently published book on the venue "Armadillio World Headquarters - A Memoir" by Eddie Wilson with Jesse Sublett and forward by Dave Marsh.
