Talk about a one of a kind specimen! Not only is this the FIRST CGC Graded TEST PRINT example of this famous RP-2 Hendrix Poster to appear at public auction but it also contains a partial overprint of a legendary Janis Joplin Bill Graham issue as well! The likelihood of something like this surfacing is slim to none and we couldn't be more pleased to kick off the 2019 new year with such a bang!
This poster is a BG- 105 RP-2 (Official Post Concert Second Printing) test print (or "Press Wipe" as they are often called) which is missing the blue dark green and gold colors the final completed printings included. To take it to another level this unique poster also contains a partial overprint of the well-known Randy Tuten design for BG-165 (RP-2). The border and shapes around and in the jukebox of that famous Janis Joplin image is overprinted with a gray and yellow run.
Visually it works really well with the composition. Collectible-wise however it works on MANY levels. Super scarce! How many of these could possibly be out there? This example certified by CGC received a "restored" grade however please be aware that: The ONLY reason this poster is in a "restored grade" holder is because it was slightly trimmed along the bottom edge. There is no restoration paper added or color touch on this piece of any kind whatsoever. Original First Printings of this poster in the condition offered here can bring many tens of thousands of dollars. We have no idea if we'll EVER see another one of these one of a kind test prints surface again!
