This is only the SECOND CGC graded example of this poster to appear at public auction! The Grateful Dead played the Avalon Ballroom on three consecutive nights in April of 1969 and they were supported by Graham Parsons and the Flying Burrito Brothers. This poster is featured in The Art of Rock plate 2.26
The show on Sunday 4/6 was broadcast live on KPFA-FM Berkeley. About 10 minutes into the final Set 2 song "Viola Lee Blues" the Dead's instruments lose power. Bobby says "it seems someone is trying to tell us something" and they finish the tune with a chorus of vocals only. While this original printing poster is available in a couple different color combinations this is also only the second we have auctioned or sold privately with this color combination. We have sold several with black print on green paper. In April 2017 we auctioned a CGC graded 9.4 $1737. This example here is in clean condition without major flaws and is 100% Original with no restoration! Exciting bids await this favored lot!
