We are proud to present the FIRST CGC graded example of this issue to surface in our auction! This lot offers a very early Grateful Dead poster in near pristine condition. This original poster was created for an event called the Beaux Arts Ball that was held in Sacramento California in late ‘66. A very young Grateful Dead performed two sets along with Quicksilver Messenger Service as the opening band however there are no audio recordings or known set lists archived of the concert.

There were two different posters created for this event this one here by artist Jack Ogden and another on brown paper by Jim Carrico. Both are scarce and valuable posters from the infancy of the band with very low original print runs and low survival rates. We've only seen this original poster surface through our hands twice in the past 10 years and one of them was a restored piece. This super clean specimen here is the first CGC graded of this issue to surface at public auction and it's 100% Original with no restoration!

We believe this example is very conservatively graded. It exhibits razor sharp corners no pinholes nicks cuts or tears. It seems the only reason it got a 8.0 was because of the pencil written "JN3.14" on the back lower left corner and very light touch of toning around the edges. In April 2015 a non-CGC example in similar condition reached $759 in our auction. Simply by third-party authenticating a collectible like this in any other market it would be worth several multiples of the previously sold examples. We firmly believe a piece like this will be no exception to those universal premiums. Don't pass up this chance to acquire one of the most sought after early Grateful Dead posters with CGC grading!
