WOW!!! This is a collection of 6 Progressive Proofs for the classic AOR# 4.38 Closing of Winterland Grateful Dead poster! These large sheets measure 23 1/8” x 29" each and look absolutely stunning together! The only reason these original oversized pieces did not get CGC certification is because they are too big to encapsulate.
The Grateful Dead’s New Years shows were the highlight of the year for many of their faithful legions. Bill Graham would pull out all the stops for this annual event. The former Ice rink Winterland where band had performed since 1966 was the site of some of their finest performances over the years.
The popular original first printing “Blue Rose” poster is one of the most collectible pieces of Grateful Dead material in the world and several pirated copies have surfaced over the years. It’s important to note that printer’s proofs such as these here are the best tools for identifying counterfeits.
Four of six of these progressive proofs are SIGNED by both artist’s Stanley Mouse and the late great Alton Kelley! More and more collectors are coming into the fold with the knowledge that artist signatures add a whole other dimension to their treasures.
