The University of California Berkley was a hot bed for political and social activism in the 1960’s .The historic student protests in Berkeley centered around 2nd amendment /free speech rights anti-war activism and civil rights advocacy. Also there was also a good dose of folk music and good time happenings in Berkeley as well. This handbill is incredibly well preserved document that illustrates what was happening in the East Bay in the sixties.

This handbill was created to promote a benefit for the Berkeley Free Press at the Jabberwock.  The Event featured The New Age The Cleanliness and Godliness Skiffle Band and folk singer Larry Hanks.
