This poster has just emerged from a recently unearthed and long held collection of Texas posters. It has been off the market since the mid 1980's. Several of the posters in this collection were at one time owned by and personalized to Texas poster Artist Ken Fetherston. Ken was a major figure in the history of Armadillo World Headquarters and met his tragic end by mistakenly being shot to death at the venue at the age of 23 in 1975.
This poster is a real gem and a major rarity. This poster is for the first ever Frank Zappa /Mothers performance at legendary Austin Texas venue. Addtionally this is a rare collaboration between two other Armadillo artists: Michael Priest and Guy Juke.
The concert was the first stop on the tour that would culminate with the Roxy and Elsewhere album recordings. The band at the time included George Duke and Chester Thompson and Napolean Murphy Brock.
Armadillo HQ concert posters are red hot in today's marketplace with the appreciation for their rarity and historical importance growing more each day. A recently published book on the venue has further ignited interest.
